The coat is thick and greyish-brown with a distinct balck glandular patch on midback and light buffy patches on eyebrows - chin and behind the ears. Inhabits rocky outcrops - including the cliffs above the sea - where they shelter in crevices and caves in the rocks. They live in colonies and are mainly diurnal. Browses or grazes on a wide range of plant material. Extremely agile on rocks and trees. Often seen sunning themselves on exposed rocks. The young are born in September and October when the fynbos is at its best after winter rains.
