Description

Sturdy erect shrub up to 1.5m. Leaves are rigid and incurved; flowers are large, hairy, tubular, red or yellow with a yellow mouth. Can vary in colour to pink with pale yellow lobes or uniform pink or white.

After: Peter MacOwan (1830-1909), one of the first botany professors in Cape Town, Director of Cape Town botanical gardens.

Habitat

Middle to upper slopes in moist, marshy areas
