Introduced weed from Eurasia. Salt-resistant plant restricted to coastal beaches.

Glabrous, rounded shrub up to 50cm. Leaves sessile, linear to deltoid, acuminate, spine-tipped; flowers 1-few in axils, whitish; fruits with a papery wing.
