Description

A perennial up to 30cm, branching from a persistent rootstock. Rough long-stalked leaves, palmate to lobed; flowers are very striking and unlike other pelargonium species are radially symmetrical; flowers up to 2cm across are bright to pale pink with a red and white eye; pollen orange-red; floral tube is reduced to a shallow depression; 5 fertile and 5 infertile stamens are present.

Latin: in- = denotes tendency, caro, carnis = flesh; referring to the fleshy or pink coloured petals.

Habitat

Rocky, sandstone slopes, often in thick undergrowth
